Having good posture is proven to be conductive to good health, not only does it provide physical benefits but it also has an effect on our mental well-being. It is been proven that having good posture provides confidence, happiness and self-satisfaction. The positioning of our bodies affect our messages to our brain. Slouching affects the method in which our brain receives these transmissions. If we are slouching we are sending a message of unhappiness or distress to the brain. Yoga has been used to treat depression by fixing one’s posture; the same can be done by wearing a waist training corset.

Will a Waist Training Corset help with Posture and Lower Back Pain

The benefits of corset training and correcting posture go back to the mid-19th century and into the early 20th century. An under bust corset makes you stand up tall by supporting your lower back, this encourages good posture. This benefits someone who has poor lumber posture, however; under bust corsets won’t be effective for somebody hunches from the shoulders. The solution for somebody who hunches up higher would be a corset that is high in the back and provides full back support. A corset isn’t guaranteed to correct posture, especially in someone who has problems pointing their shoulders forward, however; they are effective at keeping your spine straight which will improve your overall posture.

Some of the benefits of having good posture include:

  • The proper alignment of bones and joints which encourages the proper use of our muscles
  • The longevity of our joints
  • A Decrease of pressure or strain on our ligaments which brace the spine
  • Prevention of fatigue as muscles are being efficient
  • Prevention of back pain
  • Having a favorable physical appearance
  • A Decrease of pressure on the lungs

It is best not to rely solely on corsets for correcting your posture; other practices such as yoga, stretching or even standing after an hour of sitting are recommended. As always, consult your doctor before you embark on your corset journey. Hopefully this provides a conductive answer to the questions “Does waist training correct posture and lower back pain?” and “Will a waist training corset help with posture and lower back pain?”
